Job description

Summary: Performs a range of duties including stormwater design & permitting, computerized drafting, and technical assistance to the engineering and/or survey departments. May be responsible for assisting with the project management of select construction phase or sanitary design services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following: (other duties may be assigned)

  • Stormwater Design & Permitting
  • River Corridor Evaluation / Stream Restoration
  • Culvert Design
  • Site Grading & Layouts
  • On-site and Municipal Wastewater Engineering & Permitting
  • Public Water Supply Design & Permitting
  • Feasibility Studies, Land Use Planning, and Local Permitting
  • Preparation of Technical Reports, Site Plan Packages and Construction Documents
  • Construction Phase Services: Construction Observation, Bid Documents, Cost Estimates, Field Reports, and Certifications
  • AutoCAD and Carlson Use as an Engineering Design Tool
  • Attendance/Presentations at Public Hearings and Client Meetings

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Competencies:

  • 2-10 years of civil/site land development experience required
  • Must possess a BS in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering
  • E.I. or P.E. certification required
  • Experience in on-site wastewater design and stormwater design preferred
  • Proficiency in HydroCAD, AutoCAD and/or Carlson software preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong attention to detail are essential.
  • Self-motivated, ability to work and train independently and work well with a team of other professionals.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor of Science (B.S) degree in Civil Engineering or related field

Language, Math & Reasoning Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, plans and specifications. Ability to speak effectively in public, including informal meetings and public hearings. Ability to write technically and conform to prescribed style and format.

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software and AutoCAD / Carlson Design software.

Certificates and Licenses:

Professional Engineering License (P.E. or E.I.) required
