Silken Kershner

Silken is a Civil Engineer and provides support to the Trudell Consulting engineering team. Her tasks include construction engineering, stormwater design and permitting, and drafting with AutoCAD.

Silken is originally from Massena, NY. After graduating from Clarkson University, she relocated to New York City where she was a field engineer for a bridge rehabilitation project. Here she learned the ins and outs of surveying, refined her drafting skills to solve technical problems, drafted RFI’s and submittals, scheduled field crews, purchased materials and equipment, and worked with NYCDOT regulatory agencies.

In her free time, Silken enjoys gardening and playing the cello. She is looking forward to being a “Vermonter” and wants to try out some winter sports.

Recent Project Experience

Bridge Rehabilitation, Manhattan/Bronx, NYC

Silken was an engineer for the rehabilitation of the Broadway Bridge over the Harlem River in New York City.  The project consisted of the rehabilitation of the Lift Space Moveable Bridge that included the structural, mechanical, electrical, civil, and architectural components of the bridge. Her project responsibilities included supervising all field work, organizing daily schedules, crews and materials, tracking and producing RFI’s and submittals, detailing field conditions, as-built drawings, and design concepts using AutoCAD, interpreting detailed survey data, taking field measurements, and supporting all project team members.
